History

The Nebraska Psychiatric Society was incorporated in 1979, however, its origins go back to the mid 1960’s.  It was originally part of the Sioux Psychiatric Society, a district branch of the American Psychiatric Association which originally served North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska. North Dakota formed a separate district branch in 1968. The Sioux Psychiatric Society continued to serve South Dakota and Nebraska meeting primarily in Lincoln or Omaha until South Dakota formed its own district branch in 1979.
